Munising's Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Information and Gallery The Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is an amazing wall of sandstone cliffs that run for 15miles along the Lake Superior Shoreline! They are comprised of cliffs that range anywhere from 50 to 200 feet above the Lake Superior watertable. Minerals that seep out of the sandstone cracks create the imagery or "pictures" within the rocks. It is Mother Natures paint brush creating beatuful works of art for visitors from all over the world to enjoy. Walk along the miles of pristine beaches that will captivate your senes. Explore over 100 miles of hiking trails that are also within the park.
